overall history
formed in the early 1800s by Irish immigrants, the Irish mob is one of the oldest living criminal organizations in American history. The Irish gangsters have alway fought against the more powerful Sicilian Mafia, and had almost always lose to them. But not after doing serious blows that they may never recover from. An example of which the Italians won was the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. Al Capone was tired of Bugs Moran's antics. He was physically and emotionally wore down, so he decided to do something about it. He had some men dress up as police officers, go to Moran's place, had seven people go up against the wall, (six of them were gangsters. The other one was a really unlucky friend) and shot them all, killing them all. Bugs Moran continued to control his turf, but the Chicago Outfit, under Frank Nitti now, took over them. The Aftermath, Moran's adopted son, Frank Cavunaugh swore revenge on the outfit. Since then, the Cavanugh family ran the North Side Gang.
In Cleveland, Danny Greene fought the Cleveland Mafia, resulting in what we now call "The War that crippled the Mafia." He was responsible for 36 car bmbings, and eight mafioso death. That is until, after a dentist appoinment, the mob killed him. But some ameatur artist saw the whole thing and published it. The next thing the Cleveland mob knows is soldiers are ratting on soldiers and the bosses and the Cleveland Mafia was crippled.
In New York, the White Hand Gang kept the Italians at bay until the gang dissappeared for not being well organized.
The Irish/Italian mob wars exploded in the prohibition era, when the gangs started fighting each other for the local alcohol smuggling operations.
